​About O’Connor Utilities LTD (OCU)

O’Connor Utilities Limited (OCU) is a family run business with a huge nationwide presence. Formed in 1994 and based in Manchester, they have offices in North Wales, South Wales and Yorkshire, while providing utility contract services throughout the UK.

OCU is a fast-growing organisation, where everyone prides themselves on being 'Innovative Utility Engineering Experts'. Customers see them as market leaders in fibre solutions, with a specialism in the installation, termination and testing of fibre optic cables. Their wealth of experience across Telecommunications has seen them win contracts with numerous clients, which they deliver together with their sister company Instalcom.

Currently they have a workforce of over 450 site operatives, who are supported by a comprehensive back office and management structure. Senior management take a hands-on approach, and staff are known for delivering a highly personal level of customer service. This approach has seen their turnover increase every year, with the OCU group (made up of OCU and Instalcom) forecasting £130m of sales in the current financial year. OCU are big on skills development, especially for anybody working within fibre. All of their Fibre Splicing engineers have completed the City & Guilds Fibre Optic and Datacomms Installation and Testing course. They also have a dedicated in-house training facility for further development, while also making sure people get to attend other external courses.
